Logo Mark
As with our design of the Mars 2020 mission mark, the Europa Clipper mission logo was deeply layered in symbolism and needed to capture the weight of such a monumental mission. It also needed to be simple and immediately recognizable.

The logo features four key symbols: five arches representing flyby probes, a central circle for Europa, a four-pointed star for distant Earth, and an overarching snowflake silhouette representing the moon’s icy crust.

Conceptualization
To prepare for the design, we researched the historical symbolism of Jupiter, the discovery of its moons, and close-up imagery of Europa’s surface. We also studied technical mission details, including the planned flyby paths and the gravitational relationship between Jupiter and Europa.
